As a specialist setting, we recognise the diverse and individualised learning needs of our students. Our curriculum is designed to be personalised, flexible, responsive, and student-centred, ensuring that every learner has equitable access to meaningful, purposeful learning opportunities. Learning is planned and delivered at each student’s point of need, empowering them to engage, participate, and take ownership of their progress whilst building skills for independence, communication, and lifelong learning.
Ngurraga School is committed to delivering the Victorian Curriculum Foundation LevelsA–10, ensuring all students have equitable access to age-appropriate, developmental learning. Curriculum planning is informed by the individual learning goals of each student, and delivered using evidence-based, differentiated teaching practices.
Ngurraga School places equal emphasis on learning and wellbeing, recognising their interconnected role in student development. The school’s curriculum supports the holistic growth of each student academically, socially, emotionally, and physically within a safe and supportive environment.
At Ngurraga School, our teaching practices are inclusive and evidence-based, incorporating differentiated instruction, hands-on learning, communication supports, visual aids, and assistive technologies. Together, these elements ensure our curriculum not only supports individual achievement but also builds confident, capable learners prepared for life beyond school.
Each student at Ngurraga School has an Individual Education Plan (IEP). The IEP is collaboratively developed by teachers in partnership with parents/carers, allied health professionals and any other relevant stakeholders. The IEP is a vital tool in supporting personalised learning and development, outlining targeted goals, strategies, and supports based on each student’s unique needs, strengths, and aspirations. Student learning is assessed against the Victorian Curriculum using both formative and summative assessment methods. Student progress is regularly shared with parents/carers through the school’s communicative platform Seesaw and discussed in depth at Student Support Group meetings (SSGs) held throughout the year.
